Day 4 on the Mall

Sunset on the Mall, Day 4

Sunset on the Mall, Day 4

Today has been another productive day! We finished unpacking, cleaning up, and retouching the paints / trim. Eric Hester, Rice alumni and indispensible team volunteer and photographer, our also finished hanging his photographs (and his father’s, Paul Hester) on the walls.  This photo of the bedroom shows not only how the bed has become a temporary storage space for our team’s belongings, but also the beautiful panorama of the bayou and bridge infrastructure that is all too common in Houston.

As the ZEROW is designed specifically for a Houston site, we used photographs of Houston to hang on the walls of the house.

As the ZEROW is designed specifically for a Houston site, we thought it was important to use photographs of Houston to hang on the walls of the house.

We also helped sand and finish the handrails and successfully installed insulation under the house and passed the inspection.

One of the solar water heater tube is broken and Roque is working on getting a replacement.

Tomorrow we’ll get the water running at 7AM and start testing the appliances.

For all of the super-productive-work we are doing, we are also having a BLAST on the Mall as a part of the Solar Village:
